Contact spout / irrigation for dispensing chilled beverages

Contact python for beer and other beverages on tap

The contact python is a professional solution for transporting cold beverages from the cooling machine or cold room to the tower or tap, maintaining the temperature better along the run. It integrates product lines and cold water irrigation lines within an insulated bundle, which is why it is widely used in beer, wine, vermouth, cider, kombucha, soft drink and other tap-dispensed beverage installations.

Venta por metros From 1 to 12 product lines With water lines for irrigation For professional installations

What is it and what is it used for?

The contact python, also known as irrigation python, is designed so that the beverage reaches the point of service in better thermal condition. To achieve this, the product lines run alongside recirculated cold water lines, all protected by external thermal insulation.

It is a common solution in bars, restaurants, brewpubs, beer halls, festivals, catering, trade fairs and any installation where there is some distance between the cooling equipment and the tap.

Important before buying

  • Sold by the metre.
  • The standard full coil is 50 metres.
  • The U-shaped water return is not included, unless expressly indicated.
  • Requires a cooling machine with pump or agitator that drives the irrigation water.
  • Available in different configurations according to the number of product lines.

Configuration of the cooling tube for water irrigation

In this spec sheet we clearly distinguish the type of inner tube intended for cold water recirculation according to the number of products in the python:

Python configuration Cooling tube for water recirculation Size Note
1- and 2-product python Clear PVC tube 7 x 10 mm Common solution in compact configurations with few lines.
Python for 3 or more products Poly 1/2" tube 9.5 x 12.7 mm Configuration used in higher-capacity pythons and more demanding technical runs.
The supplied technical data sheets confirm water lines in 7x10 mm clear PVC for compact configurations of 1 product + 2 water lines and water lines in Poly / polyethylene 9.5 x 12.7 mm (1/2") for higher configurations. :contentReference[oaicite:3]{index=3} :contentReference[oaicite:4]{index=4} :contentReference[oaicite:5]{index=5}

Recommended insulation according to number of products

Number of product tubes Recommended insulation Typical application
From 1 to 4 products 13 mm insulation Compact installations, bars with few lines and setups where a more contained system is desired.
5 products or more 19 mm insulation Installations with higher thermal load, more lines or runs where it is advisable to reinforce the insulation.

The insulation used in the technical variants provided is flexible closed-cell elastomeric foam, CFC-free and intended for the insulation and protection of pipes.

Long run or warm environment It is advisable to review the chiller, the water recirculation, the insulation and the return accessories using sound technical criteria.

Recommended accessories for the water return

To correctly complete the installation of the contact python, you will usually need the water return U and, depending on the type of setup, the appropriate fixing accessories. Here are the direct links:

If you’re not sure which return or clamp you need, it’s a good idea to check the exact size of the water tube and the product tube before placing your order.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between the python for 1–2 products and the one for 3 or more?

In addition to the number of product lines, the type of water recirculation tube changes. In pythons for 1 and 2 products we use 7x10 mm clear PVC, while in pythons for 3 or more products we use Poly 1/2" tube (9.5x12.7 mm).

When should I choose 13 mm insulation and when 19 mm?

As a general rule in this spec sheet, 13 mm insulation is used in configurations of 4 products or fewer and 19 mm insulation in configurations of 5 products or more.

Does the product include the return U?

No. Unless expressly stated, the return U is not included. That’s why we’ve added to this page a block with links to the plastic U, the John Guest U and the recommended clamps.

Is it sold by the metre?

Yes. The contact python is sold by the metre. The usual full coil is 50 metres.

Is it only for beer?

No. Although it is a product widely used in beer installations, it can also be used for other beverages dispensed on tap that need to maintain temperature along the run.

Frequently asked product questions

Is this product compatible with my setup?

It depends on the type of connector/head, threads, and tube diameter. If you provide us with your configuration or send us a photo, we can confirm compatibility.

What measurements should I check before buying?

Thread type, inner/outer tube diameter, fitting type (quick-connect/barb/threaded), and whether it’s for beer, gas, or water line.

Does it include gaskets, clamps, or the necessary accessories?

The description specifies what is included. If you need additional seals or accessories, we’ll recommend compatible options.

What material is it made of and what use is it recommended for?

The material (stainless steel, brass, etc.) is designed for food-grade and dispensing use. If you’re going to use it with another beverage or under special conditions, we’ll advise you.

Is it easy to install? What tools do I need?

It’s usually a straightforward installation, but we recommend a clean cut on the tubing, proper tightening, and leak testing. We’ll indicate the method according to the type of connection.

How do I know if the thread or fitting is the right one?

The key is to identify your system’s thread standard and connection type. If you’re unsure, send us a photo of the current part and we’ll help you choose.

What should I do if I have leaks after assembling it?

It’s usually due to a worn gasket, incorrect measurement, poorly cut tubing, or insufficient sealing. We’ll help you diagnose and fix it.

Does this component affect foam or serving flow rate?

Yes, some components affect flow and stability. If you’re having issues with foam or flow rate, we’ll help you balance pressure, temperature, and line.

How often should I check or replace gaskets and consumables?

It depends on usage and cleaning, but it’s advisable to check them regularly to avoid leaks and maintain a stable, hygienic service.
