LogiCO2 Mk9 O2 detector for monitoring unsafe oxygen levels
The LogiCO2 Mk9 O2 detector set integrates an optical sensor, central unit and sounder/beacon to detect unsafe oxygen levels in enclosed spaces with nitrogen or other asphyxiant gases and provide visual and audible warning.
What this product offers
This system is designed to monitor areas where the oxygen level may fall below a safe threshold. It is especially suitable for technical rooms, cold rooms, enclosures with nitrogen, nitrogen generators, nitrogen tanks, and areas with gas mixed with nitrogen.
Compared with standalone devices, this set already includes the Mk9 O2 sensor, Mk9 central unit, strobe sounder/beacon, power supply, connectors, cabling and signage. This makes an initial implementation more orderly and enables centralized system monitoring.
The sensor uses optical detection, includes temperature and pressure compensation, benefits from automatic self‑calibration, and shows the current O2 concentration and operating hours on its backlit display.

Compatibility and use cases
This system is used in enclosed spaces where there is a risk of unsafe oxygen concentration. The manual itself places the sensor at nitrogen distribution points, nitrogen generators, nitrogen tanks and areas with gas mixed with nitrogen.
It can also be used when the asphyxiant gas is stored outside the building but enters the interior through pipes, provided that the monitored area is where the actual risk to people exists.
The system can be expanded with up to eight Mk9 O2 sensors and, according to the manual, the central unit can also work with Mk9 and Mk90 CO2 sensors within the LogiCO2 architecture.
Installation and considerations before buying
- The O2 sensor must be mounted at breathing height, between 150 and 180 cm from the floor.
- The sounder/beacon must be installed above the sensor, approximately 2–2.4 m from the floor and visible from any entrance to the monitored area.
- It is recommended to install a second horn/strobe outside the monitored area, preferably above the access door or doors.
- The central unit must be installed outside the monitored area or room, in a visible and accessible position.
- If the room has only mechanical ventilation, the manual states that it must have a sensor.
- If a nitrogen generator is used in the same area, the excess oxygen generated must be vented; the manual states that the sensor may not be used in the area if that oxygen is not extracted.
- The system does not operate if it is disconnected from the mains, so the power supply and its mechanical lock must be checked before commissioning.
- As safety equipment, installation and maintenance must be carried out only by professionals.
Recommended maintenance and use
The LogiCO2 O2 sensor features automatic self-calibration enabled by default and should not require manual calibration under normal conditions, as long as it remains continuously powered. However, the manufacturer itself states that manual calibration is required at start-up.
In addition, as this is a safety product, it is recommended to perform a functional check at least once a year. Cleaning should be done with water and a damp cloth, and the sensor and the central unit housing must not be opened by unauthorized personnel.
