Chilled beer and beverage taps
Beer taps and dispensers for beer and other beverages such as water, coffee, cocktails, mead, kombucha, cider, vermouth and wine are used to dispense draft drinks from kegs. They work by controlled dispensing from the keg, allowing the beverage to flow through a tube and out of the tap into a glass. Beverage dispensing taps are designed to maintain the quality and flavour of the drink, as well as to provide a steady, easy flow thanks to the in-line compensator regulator. They are essential in bars, restaurants and anywhere you want to dispense kegged beverages effectively and efficiently.

If you’re thinking about having your own beer tap at home, you’re in the right place. More and more beer lovers are choosing to have draft beer taps in their garden, kitchen or anywhere else. To get it up and running you only need a power outlet to plug in the cooler and you’re ready to go, but good advice is always important, both when choosing the type of beer tap that best suits what you’re looking for and for its installation and setup. At Install Beer we have more than 20 years of experience in installing and selling draft beer equipment, so we’re confident we’ll find the tap that best suits your needs.

If you’re looking for a portable beer tap, you’ll find a great selection here. A portable unit is perfect for events, parties or for having at home; you’ll only need a power outlet to plug it in and within a few minutes you’ll be pouring your first beer. Among the different portable coolers we offer, you can choose models with more or less power, with 1 or 2 taps, and with or without an air compressor. If the kegs you’re going to buy or already have are bag-in-keg types like KeyKeg, we recommend buying a portable cooler with an air compressor. If, on the contrary, you use non-bag kegs such as stainless steel kegs, you’ll need CO2, so there’s no need to buy the portable tap with compressor.
These types of taps have a temperature controller that lets you set the temperature at which you want the beer to be served, but bear in mind that these taps don’t have an ice reserve like bar coolers do, so the amount of beer you can pour at once is limited.
Another important tip is not to leave beer inside with the cooler switched off. Besides being unhygienic, you probably won’t be able to open the tap because the beer left inside will cause the tap to seize up. We recommend visiting our blog section, where we explain how to clean with a cleaning keg, and also our cleaning section.
The main difference from a beer tap is that it must be 100% stainless steel, as the composition of wine damages other metals such as brass. Here you can find the stainless steel taps we offer.

The cleaning kit is a key product for maintaining beer equipment. The kit includes a cleaning keg for the chemical product, 5 sachets of cleaning chemical, a tap cleaning brush and a brush to clean the keg coupler.

The beer tap is very simple to use: you just open or close the lever where the handle is to let the beer flow or stop it. The main difference you may find between beer taps is the compensator, which lets you increase or decrease the beer flow rate. Some taps have a compensator and others do not.
The gas used for beer is CO2, whether it’s for a bar or for a beer tap at home. Air can also be used, but only for kegs with an inner bag, such as KeyKeg.
Installing a beer tap can be straightforward if you are replacing it with the same type. The important thing is to know the thread size of the font/tower and whether the beer line has the same diameter as the tap’s quick connector. If you have any doubts, just ask us whether the tap you want to buy is compatible with your setup.
At Install Beer you’ll find many different types of taps. You just need to choose the one you like best, check that it has the features you need, and you’re done. If you’re unsure, you can email us at info@installbeer.com
