The País de Cervezas festival, Brewers Forum and the 38th European Brewery Convention congress coincide in Madrid

The association Cerveceros de España held the “País de Cervezas” festival in Madrid from May 27 to 29. The event featured workshops, talks and tastings with a single goal: to promote knowledge of the wide variety of beers available nationwide. Over three days, attendees discovered a multitude of styles at Príncipe Pío station, accompanied by a varied food offering.

The association emphasizes the unity of small and large producers under the umbrella of Spanish beer. The aim of this format is to celebrate the vast diversity of beers brewed by domestic producers. All of this takes place within the framework of responsible consumption, which Cerveceros de España has advocated since its inception, and is accompanied by food. To that end, they have set up a series of food trucks to pair with the different styles.

The event also featured an area dedicated to the activities on the agenda. The multipurpose classroom hosted tasting workshops, courses, talks, pairings, and training on brewing techniques to spread beer culture among attendees. In numbers, the festival served as a meeting point for a total of fifty breweries from across the country.

It should be noted that País de Cervezas is part of the centenary celebrations of Cerveceros de España, whose founding dates back to 1922. The evolution of the association is remarkable; beyond the six founding members that today make up the large industrial groups, as many as 39 microbreweries have joined in recent years, in addition to those that are indirect members through AECAI (Spanish Association of Independent Craft Brewers).

At the end of the festival, Madrid also hosted the Brewers Forum and the 38th European Brewery Convention (EBC) from May 29 to June 1, a prime event for the sector in choosing Spain as its venue. During these days, workshops and talks were held on the current state and future of the industry.

In this regard, the coincidence of these events helped position the local product on a global scale and put domestic brewers on the international map. Not for nothing, Spain is among the three largest producers in Europe, ahead of countries with a longer tradition such as the United Kingdom.
