Turismo cervecero por Aragón-Install Beer

Beer tourism in Aragon

by David Varela Naranjo on March 09, 2020 Categories: Draft-to-tap beverage dispensing blog

Spread between Huesca and Zaragoza, Aragon is home to some of the most interesting microbreweries in the country. Above all, in addition to beer, it stands out for its concentration of mead producers. We know that mead is not beer, but in practice we switch between the two without difficulty. So if you’re in Aragon, don’t miss our beer tourism suggestions. Here is a list of active breweries and brewpubs you can visit:

Cerveza Artesana Aragon

  • La Malteadora – Zaragoza Brewer Company: brewpub in the city of Zaragoza.
  • Pyrene: brewery located in the municipality of El Grado (Huesca).
  • Cierzo Brewing Co: brewpub and brewery located in Zaragoza.
  • Hidromiel Rasmia: meadery in the town of Lechón (Zaragoza).
  • Cervezas Bachiella: brewery in Salas Bajas (Huesca).
  • Borda: brewery in the town of Aineto (Huesca).
  • Cerveza Tensina: brewery in the town of Tramacastilla de Tena (Huesca).
  • Cerveza Artesana Mijares: craft brewery in Rubielos de Mora (Teruel).
  • Dos Bous: brewery in the town of Benabarre (Huesca).
  • Seelen: brewery in Vencillón (Huesca).
  • Cervezas 976: brewery in Zaragoza.
  • Rondadora: brewery in the town of La Cabezonada (Huesca).
  • Cerea: beer and mead brewery in Mediana de Aragón (Huesca).
  • Cervezas Ordio Minero: brewery in La Puebla de Alfindén (Zaragoza) with its own bar in the provincial capital.

If you need a more specific recommendation, don’t miss the brewpub at Cierzo and the Ordio Minero bar; both are in downtown Zaragoza just minutes apart. What’s more, if you could only drink one beer in Aragon, don’t leave without trying Matadragons, the powerful barley wine from Ordio Minero with 15% alcohol and smoked malts. It has received several national awards, and with good reason… What a spectacular craft beer!

That said, it would be unfair to cover Aragon’s beer culture without mentioning Cervezas Ámbar. The regional “little giant” proudly boasts its century-old brewery, the oldest operating production center in Spain. Ámbar offers visitors a unique experience through its old brewery, transformed into a living beer museum. It is a fundamental part of Spain’s brewing history, now under the guidance of brewmaster Antonio Fumanal. And if you can, treat yourself to Marlén, the Dortmunder that can only be found in Aragón. In any case, enjoy the best beer in one of the most traditional regions of Spain. Cheers!
