John Guest adapter from plain spigot to tube
Family of straight adapters for making a transition between a plain barb and a tube line via push-fit connection.
Selection
There are multiple combinations of 1/4", 5/16", 3/8" and 1/2". Always read both measurements of the variant and distinguish which side corresponds to the tailpiece and which to the tube.
Practical use
Useful for adapting existing outlets on equipment, valves, coils or other components without adding multiple fittings.
Installation
Depressurize, verify both measurements, check the condition of the tailpiece and cut the tube perpendicular. Assemble without tension and test for leaks.
Frequently asked questions
Are both sides the same?
Not necessarily.
What is the difference between a barb and a tube?
They are different interfaces and must be identified separately.
Can I choose by approximation?
No; use the exact sizes.
What mistake is common?
Swapping which size corresponds to each side.
