LogiCO2 CO2 sensor for cold rooms with reliable detection in low temperatures

The LogiCO2 3349 set is a CO2 detection system for cold rooms and freezers with a Cold Room sensor, Mk9 central unit and sounder/beacon to monitor leaks in cold environments where a conventional detector may lose accuracy.

What this product offers

This unit is designed for cold rooms and freezing applications where CO2 may accumulate due to a leak and a standard detector does not provide a sufficiently reliable response at low temperature.

The real advantage of this set is that it already includes the core of the system: low-temperature-specific sensor, Mk9 central unit, sounder/beacon, power supply, connectors, signage, and protective cover. This reduces configuration errors and simplifies a technically sound installation.

In addition, the manufacturer states that the Cold Room solution is specially adapted to refrigeration and freezing, and that the sensor differs from the standard Mk90 in its temperature range and in an alarm level configurable via DIP switch 1.

Key data

Manufacturer’s part number 3349
SKU Install Beer LG007
Main application Cold rooms and freezers
Sensor Cold Room CO2 Sensor
Central unit included Mk9 central unit
Sensor operating temperature From -40 °C to 25 °C
Important: this product is aimed at cold environments. If your installation has several risk points or several cold rooms, the manufacturer’s own documentation allows for expansion with additional kits and up to twelve sensors on a single central unit.

Main features

  • Designed for real cold The manufacturer has tailored it specifically for cold rooms and freezers, where a conventional detector may drift more.
  • Complete base set Includes Cold Room sensor, Mk9 central unit, sounder/beacon, power supply, connectors, cabling, manual and signage.
  • Accurate CO2 detection It is designed for safety in environments where a leak may go unnoticed if the sensor is not prepared for low temperature.
  • Professional architecture Uses RS485 Modbus communication, common in technical supervision systems.
  • Expandable Up to twelve sensors can be connected to one central unit and additional kits integrate in plug-and-play mode.
  • Visual and audible alarm The strobe sounder/beacon helps to warn both inside and outside the monitored area.
  • Altitude compensation The sensor can be adjusted to compensate for the installation altitude.
  • Automatic calibration Performs self-calibration several times a year.

Compatibility and use cases

This set is designed for cold rooms, freezers, cold storage areas, gas rooms connected to cold rooms and other cold indoor spaces where CO2 is used and there is a risk of accumulation due to leakage.

Suitable for hospitality, food retail, wineries, breweries, beverage producers, the food industry and any facility where CO2 is used in cold rooms or low-temperature enclosures.

The manufacturer’s own documentation allows expansion with additional kits, relay kits and connection to building management systems, always within the LogiCO2 architecture.

Installation and considerations before buying

  • The sensor must be installed at a maximum height of 30 cm from the floor and at a maximum distance of 5 m from the CO2 distribution point.
  • Each sensor covers a maximum area of 78 m²; if the cold room or area is larger, consider additional sensors.
  • The sounder/beacon must be placed above the sensor, approximately 2–2.4 m from the floor, clearly visible from any entrance.
  • The documentation also recommends installing a second sounder/beacon outside the monitored area, preferably above the access door or doors.
  • The central unit must be installed outside the monitored area, in a visible and accessible position.
  • Check the available power supply, the RJ45 cabling run, and compatibility with the system architecture if you anticipate expansions.
  • As this is a safety product, installation and commissioning must be carried out with technical expertise and final functional verification.

Recommended maintenance and use

The sensor performs automatic calibration several times a year. Even so, as this is a CO2 safety system, it is advisable to periodically check cables, connectors, visibility of signage, sounder/beacon, and correct reading on the central unit.

The general system documentation recommends that a qualified professional agent perform a functional check at least once a year. Cleaning should be done with water and a damp cloth, avoiding any unauthorised tampering with the equipment.
